Open Workspace

I obviously haven't gotten around to posting in quite a while. Summers always seem to fly by, but this one has been particularly busy. A few weeks ago Ear Duo (the duo that EMMI recently collaborated and toured with) was in town. It was the perfect opportunity for EMMI to host an open house at their Belmont workspace.

Beer was on tap and Troy's hand-roasted coffee was brewed for the occasion

Loads of friends and supporters came to check out the space and find out about the recent tour. The robot builders were on hand to explain and demo their recent creations and to show a movie that chronicled the tour.

The Bot Builders

I've hardly seen Troy in the past weeks. He's been at the work space, with the rest of the bot squad, designing and building new robots for the upcoming East Coast and European tours. He comes home once in a while to eat or sleep. I go to the space to see him and bring him food sometimes. At one point, Aurie and I stopped by to do some menial tasks to help with assembly. Here are some pics I took of the process.

Robot News

Troy leaves today for Miami. I am a little more than disappointed that I'm stuck in the cold and snow, but I'm excited for him. He will meet up with Steve and Aurie and he'll also be reunited with the robots. They will doing street performances for a festival of electronic music and art.

Also, for those of you who may not have heard, Expressive Machines Musical Instruments (EMMI) and Ear Duo just launched a fundraising campaign through Kickstarter to (hopefully) fund a new batch of robots. They've already got an East Coast and European tour planned, so we are crossing our fingers that the money comes in. So far it looks promising, in the first day they've already raised $1,225 of their $7,000 goal!

Check out this video to see what they have planned.
