Quarantine

Troy was miserably sick all weekend and wasn't getting better so he finally went in to Student Health yesterday and they determined that he might have the mumps. There was an outbreak last fall at U.Va. and apparently the virus must still be going around. They took a blood test but the results take forever to come back so he may be well again before he knows for sure.

Thankfully they gave him some meds to ease his pain and help him sleep. They also gave him a bunch of masks to wear in an attempt to protect me from catching it as it's highly contagious. Supposedly it is unlikely that you will get the mumps if you have been inoculated but that didn't help him. He is officially quarantined in the house until Friday. Poor guy!

Oh no! Poor Troy. That's awful! Peter asked if he was "legally quarantined." Basically, he was wondering if there were guys with hazmat suits surrounding your premises. Kinda like at the end of E.T. Tell him we hope he's feeling better soon!!

Those Traubs with their scary ET obsession.... ;)

I am thinking of Troy and hoping he feels better soon!!! Does he have to tie a rag with ice bags around his head like those kids in the fifties?

Safe, speedy recovery, Troy!!!

I always hated those scenes from ET! No hazmat suits but Public Health called yesterday to check in. They haven't officially determined that he has the mumps. His face isn't terribly swollen so we wonder. It's crazy with all the advanced technology that we have that they couldn't determine this sooner. In any case, thanks for the good wishes!
